The DLG, founded in 1885 by the writer, painter and engineer Max Eyth, is one of the leading organizations with a membership of over 29,000 in farming, agriculture and the food industry today. The DLG is nonprofit-making, politically independent, interconnected through networks on international level and is open to anyone committed to agriculture and the food industry.

The DLG encourages advances in farming, agriculture and the food industry throughout the world by transfer of know-how, quality and technology and contributes to securing the global fundamentals of existence on a sustainable basis. As an open international network, the DLG cooperates with experts from all over the world in developing futureproof solutions to the challenges of the sector. It organizes leading commercial fairs, exhibitions and other events in the competence areas plant cultivation, animal husbandry, farming and forestry, energy supply and food technology. The DLG quality tests for foods as well as agricultural equipment and resources are leading internationally. With specialist work and its network of experts, the DLG is constantly giving new impulses in practice.
