10.00 am - 01.00 pm

In the bio-based economy era, the conversion of biomass into energy sources (biofuels, biogas) is an essential step in order to reduce the use of fossils. Enzymes play an indispensable role in this context even if they are not being specifically developed for the biogas production so far; therefore, efficient enzymes enabling the biomass conversion should be developed.
The DEMETER project, among its goals, aims to test a new enzyme product in order to improve the Biogas yield; the enzyme has proven to be effective in practice and it can be produced at an industrial scale.
The DEMETER partners will give insights on the industrial and economic feasibility to apply a cost-effective enzyme product in biogas plants as well as on the impact of the developed processes and products on environment and economy.
